The Vyne

A house of diaper brickwork, dating back to the time of Henry VIII. It was built by William, First Lord Sandys in early 16thC, and extensively altered in mid 17thC, when John Webb added the earliest classical protico to a country house in England. Within the house there is a fascinating Tudor chapel with Renaissance glass, a Palladian staircase and a wealth of old panelling. Gardens, lawns and lake. Garden open at times specified.
